CRICKET NEWS - Hosts Future Stars FC defeated All Stars 2-0 in an exciting match at the Future Stars Soccer Tournament held at Thembalethu Stadium on Sunday 9 November. 

The game began with the Future Stars pressing early, while the All Stars used their speed on the flanks, with Siphamandla Hlangabeza looking sharp.

Onele Somacala scored the first goal through a set piece, putting pressure on All Stars’ defence, which was exposed at the back. 

Despite the All Stars’ efforts to equalise, Future Stars led 1-0 at half-time. 

In the second half, both teams displayed skilful play, but Luyanda George sealed the victory with a powerful second goal, making it 2-0. 

Post-game, Future Stars FC’s founders, Thabiso Booysen and Zolani Makendlana, shared their vision. They launched this tournament to fill a gap in local soccer after the other leagues had ended, aiming to support regional teams and develop young talent. 

The annual event seeks to provide hope and opportunities for aspiring players.
The tournament, featuring 26 teams competing for a R10 000 prize, will conclude with a grand finale at the same venue on Sunday. 

The participating teams include the Black Cats, Simunye, Fast Eleven, the Young Masters, Vista, Burning Fire, the Tigers, Eastern City and others such as the Royal Blues and Abahlali FC.
