GEORGE FOOTBALL NEWS - The ruthless Cape Town-based side CCK Porto FC were crowned the new champions of the George Heritage Football Tournament after sinking the Knysna team FC United 2-0 last weekend.
The final was played on Sunday afternoon, 26 September at the Lawaaikamp Stadium. The Cape Town team netted two top-notch goals in the second half.
The scorers were Lucas Khiba and Adam Yabo.
Thirty-two teams attended the George Heritage Football Tournament. It was the first time in the history of football in George that all the George teams had to sit out and watch visiting teams play in the final.
Throughout the game, CCK Porto displayed impressive footwork that was a great crowd pleaser. While both teams gave classic performances during the last five minutes of the game, FC United goalkeeper Aviwe "Mhlongo" Tshandu (23) deserves special mention for his exceptional saves throughout.
Twice in the first half and once in the second half, his acrobatic performance prevented CCK Porto from scoring.
