GEORGE NEWS - Thembalethu-based side Burning Fire FC (Umlilo) collected maximum points when they defeated Vista FC 2-1 in a Geolfa League fixture on Saturday afternoon, 13 July at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
Cristiano Williams and Odwa Sigidli netted the two goals for Burning Fire, while Lutho Jonga scored the solitary goal for his side.
With 55 points, Burning Fire are currently fourth on the log table. They have played 30 fixtures with 17 victories, four draws and nine defeats, while Vista FC is battling to reach the top eight positions.
Umlilo played a fast game keeping the ball on the ground and both teams leaned on the speed of their wingers.
Vuyisanani Liwani of Vista delivered a powerful shot inside the box, but it was stopped by Umlilo's goalkeeper. Christiano "Ginger" Williams of Burning Fire scored the first goal after set play from the centre of the field, making it 1-0.
Burning Fire received a free kick on the right side of the field, but the ball was cleared away. Keeping up the pressure, Vista were awarded with a set piece, leading to Lutho Jonga levelling the score on one each.
The second half was marked by a failed attempt when Thembisile Butse of Umlilo's shot hit the woodwork, before Odwa Sigidli netted the second and winning goal for Umlilo.
