SOCCER NEWS - The Geolfa Junior League kicked off last weekend with the Black Cats U15 beating Heaven Stars 5-2 at the Thembalethu Stadium.

Obam Songelwa of the Black Cats opened the score within the first 10 minutes, and Onothando Hans and Yomelela Mpenka extended the Cats’ lead to 3-0 in the first half.

The second half saw the Black Cats on the attack again, increasing the pressure on the Heaven Stars. After Ramadhaan Bimundi scored the fourth goal for the Cats, Heaven Stars got their foot in the door with a goal by Iviwe Volontiya. 

Sibalalwe Mayatye added the second goal for Heaven Stars.

Black Cats’ development coach, Zonwabele Dlala, proudly used the isiXhosa proverb: “Inkunzi isematholeni” (the bull is among the calves) to express his pride in his young team, saying they had been looking forward to the start of the junior league.
