GEORGE FOOTBALL NEWS - Abahlali Football Club (FC) were crowned the Top Gear Tournament champions at the Zone 9 sports ground in Thembalethu last weekend.
The tournament was played on a points system.
All Stars walloped Young Killers 2-1 in their last game of the tournament. The three goals were scored during the second half of the game with Shane Booysen and Aqhama Jolingana finding the net for All Stars.
Philile Laqhweshwa surprised everyone when he outsmarted All Stars goalkeeper Zola Choli, driving a powerful long-range strike from the left side of the field to score a magnificent goal.
Both teams played entertaining football and created chances.

The evergreen Asanda "Yaya" Kwazi of Young Killers was on fire since the start of the tournament and particularly impressed with his pinpoint passes.
Abahlali Football Club were crowned as new Top Gear Tournament champions after the Zone 9 soccer tournament last weekend.
All Stars' Aqhama Jolingana was a work horse in the centre field, always hunting for goals.
The results of the Top Gear Tournament are:
All Stars beat Young Masters 1-0; Young Killers beat Abahlali 1-0; Abahlali beat All Stars 4-3; Young Killers beat Young Masters 1-0; Abahlali beat Young Masters 8-2; All Stars beat Young Killers 2-1. The four teams who battled it out for the Top Gear soccer crown were Abahlali, Young Killers, All Stars and Young Masters.
The prizes, sponsored by Top Gear, were as follows:
- First prize: set of 14 soccer jerseys, 12 water bottles and a jumping ladder
- Second prize: 10 soccer balls, 12 water bottles and a jumping ladder
- Third prize: 30 bibs, 12 water bottles and a jumping ladder
- Fourth prize: 30 flat cones, 12 water bottles and a jumping ladder
