GEORGE NEWS - Young Killers were knocked out from the Heritage Tournament when they lost 3-1 in a Zone 9 derby against Abahlali at Thembalethu Stadium last Sunday afternoon.
Siphelo Matiya (brace) and Ndyebo Ngcwangu scored the three goals for Abahlali, while Meliqiniso Dube scored the solitary goal for the Killers.
With excellent ball handling at the start of the game, Young Killers looked promising, particularly when Meliqiniso Dube netted the first goal of the game.
Abahlali however changed gear and equalised with a shot by Siphelo Matiya, making the score at the end of the first half 1-1.
The second half saw both teams looking very smart on the ball with Abahlali using the pace of Ndyebo Ngcwangu and Siphelo Matiya to break through the Young Killers backline. Thanks to great footwork by Abahlali players, Ndyebo Ngcwangu netted their second goal, putting his side in the lead 2-1. Young Killers struggled to defend against the onslaught of Abahlali's wings and flanks.
Abahlali managed to open up some space from the centre of the field, enabling Siphelo Matiya to score his brace, making it 3-1 and ensuring that Abahlali goes through to the quarter finals.
