CRICKET NEWS - Jean du Plessis of South Western Districts produced a sound performance for South Africa during the ICC u.19 World Cup that was recently held in New Zealand.
Du Plessis made his senior debut for SWD as a 17-year-old, played the last four of South Africa's six matches and ended with a batting average of 39 runs.
His top score was 54 (from 54 balls) which he hit in the pool match against New Zealand.
He also took two slip catches in the play-off match for the fifth place against Bangladesh.
A match South Africa won by eight wickets.
Du Plessis is a second year B Accounting student at the Nelson Mandela University (George Campus).
According to Albertus Kennedy, CEO of SWD Cricket, Du Plessis said he will be available for selection for the SWD senior team for their remaining matches of the 2017/18 season.
