CRICKET NEWS - The second round of matches in the Six Gun Grill SWD Premier League were contested on Saturday. The defending champions, Pacaltsdorp United, and newly promoted Sussex are the only unbeaten sides in the league and their victories were achieved by bonus point wins.
Pacaltsdorp United (153/3), thanks to valuable batting contributions by Bradley Carlous (51*) and Warren Bell (46*), were victorious with a seven-wicket victory against Union Stars II (152 all out).
Union Stars I (232 all out), thanks to the first century of the competition by Grant Esau (105*) and a five-wicket haul by Reagon Rhode (5/13), won by 124 runs against Plett Pioneers (108 all out) at New Horizons.
Sussex posted 236/8 as they defeated George (120 all out) by 116 runs. Heath Richards impressed with bat and ball.
At the Military Sport Club, Harlequins were dismissed for a modest 136, but bowled out Knysna Cavaliers for only 68 for a 68-runs victory. Jermaine le Kay (62) with the bat and Clayton Manewille (4/13) with the ball were heroes for Harlequins.
Bradley Carlous helped his team, Pacaltsdorp United, to victory over Union Stars II by batting for 51 runs not out.
