CRICKET NEWS - The Garden Route Badgers Colts had mixed success in the Cricket SA Colts competition matches against Boland in Paarl last weekend.
In the three-day match, the Badgers, who batted first, made 148. Nathan Engelbrecht (59) was the top runs scorer.
Boland, who was dismissed for 161, had a 13-run lead in the first innings. Grant Esau (4/30) was the pick of the bowlers.
In their second innings, Engelbrecht (55) was again in fine form with the bat and enjoyed good support from Kurt Botha (88) and Enathi Khitshini (52) as the Badgers declared their second innings at 253/7.
A great batting effort from Boland with a century by Jason Muirhead (114) secured a four-wicket victory for the home side as they made 241/7.
In the limited-over match on Sunday, Engelbrecht (97) and Botha (59) impressed with the bat to allow the Badgers to post 230/9 and thereafter dismissed Boland for 128 for a 102-run victory.
