GEORGE NEWS - The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers recorded an emphatic three-wicket victory against Western Province at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn on Saturday. This was the Badgers' first victory against Western Province in the Cricket South Africa Hollywoodbets Pro 50 series.
The Badgers Women, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 95* (from 71 balls; 5x6, 11x4) from Jana Nell, reached a competitive target with five overs to spare.
Nell bulldozed the Badgers to victory with some power hitting after Western Province was dismissed for 209 (all out).
In the Pro20 match, the former Protea international Dané van Niekerk scored a century (100 from 64 balls; 4x6, 12x4) and in an opening partnership of 165 for the first wicket with Faye Tunnicliffe (73), enabled Western Province to 194/2.
In a disappointing run chase, the Badgers were dismissed for 85 as Western Province won by 109 runs.
