CRICKET NEWS - As the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Women's Professional Domestic League enters its second professional season, it proudly steps forward under a new name – the Hollywoodbets Pro Series, consisting of both the Hollywoodbets Pro50 and Pro20 competitions.
The transformation follows the announcement of Hollywoodbets as the main sponsor for this exciting new chapter in South African women's cricket.
The professionalisation of women's cricket now allows Division 1 (Top 6) teams to contract 11 players each, further bolstered by the addition of high performance and nationally contracted players.
This is a significant step in elevating the standard of women's cricket and ensures a competitive and well-resourced environment for players at the highest level.
The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers women will start their campaign this weekend when they take on the Hollywoodbets Dolphins at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn, with the Pro50 match on Saturday and the Pro20 encounter on Sunday.
The Dolphins will be travelling to Oudtshoorn full of confidence after winning both their Pro50 and Pro20 encounters against the Titans in Durban last weekend by two wickets.
Nicolien Janse van Rensburg will captain the Badgers in the new season and the home team will be without Annerie Dercksen and Mieke de Ridder, who are both still on national duties with the Proteas at the ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE.
