GEORGE NEWS - Eden Modern Pentathlon Association welcomes more world medals to the Eden district, as their athletes returned from the 2024 UIPM Laser Run World Championships held in Zhengzhou, China on 7 to 9 June.
Laser Run, with a 'run-shoot' format, is one of the fastest developing disciplines of the full Modern Pentathlon, an established Olympic Sport.
A three-day festival of Laser Run - the development beacon of the UIPM Sports movement – has lit the spark for an unforgettable UIPM 2024 Pentathlon and Laser Run World Championships.
More than 550 athletes from around the world competed and created exciting moments in this very special location, the Zhengzhou Olympic Sport Centre, showing the ability to race in tough conditions with temperatures of over 30ºC.
Eden MPA is extremely proud of its athletes who competed in this prestigious event and placed as follows: Sian Potgieter (u.13 boys) finished 4th individually, won a gold u.13 team medal, and a bronze mixed relay medal; Minay Botha (u.15 girls) finished 12th individually and won a bronze mixed relay medal; Mia Botha (u.19 girls) finished 7th individually, won a silver u.19 team medal, and earned Junior Protea Colours.
