Gift Kelehe from Rustenburg won the men's race and Caroline Wostmann from Pretoria was the first woman to cross the finish line. Wostman finished the race in 06:12:22.
Kelehe was the first athlete to cross the finish line in Durban, shortly after 11:00, with a time of 05:38:35. He is employed as a policeman in Rustenburg, squeezing in his training between his work hours. Kelehe finished more then seven minutes ahead of Ethiopian Mohammed Husien, who took second place. Third place went to South Africa's Hatiwande Nyamande.
