GEORGE NEWS – If you’ve ever wanted to swap your running gear for feathers and fun, now’s your chance. The Chicken Run, hosted by Ruby Havens, is set for George on Saturday 2 May.
Taking place at The Apprentice on the R102 Airport Road, this light-hearted event invites participants of all ages to run for a good cause, preferably dressed as a chicken.
The race starts at 12:00 and promises more than just a dash to the finish line.
Runners can choose between a 5km route or a shorter 2.5km kiddies race, making it an ideal outing for families. Entry is set at R45 for both children and adults, keeping the event accessible while supporting a meaningful cause.
True to its playful theme, prizes will be awarded for the best dressed “chicken runner”, so creativity is strongly encouraged.
Whether it’s a full feathered outfit or a simple beak and wings, participants are urged to embrace the spirit of the day.
Beyond the race itself, visitors can look forward to a variety of activities, including competitions, food and market stalls, and a dedicated kids’ play area.
The event is designed to be as much a social gathering as it is a fundraiser, creating a lively atmosphere for the whole community.
Ruby Havens, known for its work in supporting vulnerable children, continues to host initiatives like the Chicken Run to raise both funds and awareness. With backing from partners such as Grow Green, the event highlights the power of community collaboration in making a difference.

So, whether you’re in it to win it or just keen to have a clucking good time, the Chicken Run is set to be one of George’s most entertaining events this May.
