SCHOOL SPORT - York High School is celebrating an outstanding achievement after an impres-sive number of learners were selected to represent Eden Hockey at various tournaments and festivals taking place across South Africa during the June and July school holidays.
A total of 39 York players have earned provincial honours across the U14, U16 and U18 age groups.
In addition to their flock of Eden hockey players, York staff member MJ Meyer has been appointed coach of the Eden U18A girls hockey team.
Boys on the Eden team
The York boys selected for Eden representation are:
- Eden U18: Abdullah Omar, Soso Mgudlwa, Stefan Schoeman, Layton Dafel, Christiano Veldkornet, Dominic Joshua and Lebraun Quirk.
- Eden U16: Teo Janse van Vuuren, Phelo Mgudlwa, Reagan Syfers, Daniel Christie, Konrad Punt, Iviwe Pikini, Tayton Harding, Athandile Lengisi, Drayton Austen, Vladimir Strauss, Sange Mayekiso and Rome Quirk.
- Eden U14: Simthandile Lengisi, Siviwe Mtila, Avuwa Vara and Buhle Tobey.

York's girls also excelled in the selection process:
- Eden U18A: Ashlee Peterson, Andrea Machelm, Skylar Aitken, Kitra Soldin, Talia Soldin, Lilly Joubert, Nicole May, Onwaba Ngaphi and Khazimla Ncera.
- Eden U16A: Layla Topper, Ayesha Moolman, Minenhle Mkhize and Zinah Damons.
- Eden U14A: Ruth Davis, Emily Hampson and Lianay de Lange.
- Eden U14B: Lisa Nkalitshana.
