GEORGE NEWS - Two more schools, Carpe Diem and Up With Downs, have gone green this year and registered for the Green Schools programme of the Landmark Foundation.
This brings the number of schools that are part of this programme to six.
The Green Schools programme entails schools signing up to implement a recycling project at the school which requires them to remain committed to reducing waste that goes to the landfill.
"Carpe Diem and Up With Downs are two schools for learners with learning disabilities and challenges, and yet they are leading the way with creating a more conscious world for all to live in.
We are super proud of the learners and the principals and staff who have bought into the project and will forge forward next year," said Monica Vaccaro of the Landmark Foundation.
During 2024, Hoogekraal Primary and Pacaltsdorp Primary also joined the programme.
"We are over the moon when schools see the need to take action against climate change and become committed to changing habits.
"The programme is run in collaboration with full support from Henque Waste, George Municipality and Garden Route District Municipality, and we thank everyone for the massive effort to keep George clean."
