PROPERTY NEWS - It's often an overlooked and blandly neutral space, but times are changing and experts predict surprising bedroom colour trends for 2020.
A new year inspires personal change and if you're looking to create change in your interior home design, the bedroom is a go-to home improvement project.
The new bedroom favourites are:
Candyfloss pink
Candyfloss pink in the bedroom is a hot topic at the moment. While it's not the most conventional bedroom colour for adults, you can pull off a very cutting-edge look if you're feeling brave.
Magical forest green
Another on-trend bedroom colour is green. It's always been a popular bedroom colour because of its natural calming effects, but this is a very specific tone that associates with nature. Create your own restorative retreat with dark forest green.
Washed-out pistachio
Keep it green with vibrant pistachio. This colour combines well with blue or brown and is a lovely colour choice for a children's room or a guest bedroom. Brighten up a small space with a fun pistachio colour palette.
Classic jet black
Bold black is a powerful statement colour. It was previously considered very masculine and somewhat overwhelming for a bedroom. However, that perception has changed. Jet black creates an intimate space that is stylish and sophisticated.
Mustard yellow
Yellow is warm and radiating, but intense yellow can become saturated and garish in a bedroom, which is why the more earthy mustard yellow is an excellent choice. Be selective about how and where you use the colour so as not to overdo it.
Deep blue
Classic blue has been declared the Pantone colour of the year so it will no doubt feature prominently in interior design. Deep blue is a beautifully calm and soothing colour. Blues and greens have become the new on-trend neutrals of choice for designers.
Stormy grey
Grey is a timeless colour for any room in the house. Stormy grey suggests practical elegance and associates with luxury.
Grey is recommended for those who wish to keep their bedroom simple and charming.

Choosing a colour for a bedroom
Remember that choosing a colour for your bedroom doesn't mean that you have to paint the room from floor to ceiling in your chosen hue.
You can get creative with your colour choice by introducing subtle, selected colour embellishments in key areas. Mix it up with different materials like paint, fabric, artwork, ornaments or furniture.
