GEORGE NEWS - George Municipal Manager Dr Michele Gratz has resigned.
Municipal Spokesperson Chantèl Edwards confirmed her resignation this morning, saying Council will deliberate and announce the final date of her contract at a Special Council meeting.
A date for the meeting is yet to be set.
Meanwhile, former Mayor Leon van Wyk will take up his position at the Provincial Legislature this week.
Dr Gratz said that she has worked exceptionally well with Van Wyk, and as a team she believes they have taken George forward due to their common vision and good working relationship.
“She wishes to leave at the same time as him,” said Edwards.
It is not known who will replace Gratz, or who will be the next mayor.
