Update
GEORGE NEWS - A night of political drama dominated by ANC slate politics ended in the early hours of Sunday morning when the new ANC Southern Cape regional leadership was announced.
The regional conference took place on Friday and Saturday, 24 and 25 August, in the banquet hall of the George Civic Centre. Jovan Bruinders from Mossel Bay was elected as chairman of the region, Major Sokopo from George was re-elected as regional secretary and Beauty Stoffels from Kannaland as treasurer.
The Sokopo/Bruinders axis secured two thirds of the delegates' votes to the one third received by Ewan Wildeman (Plett)/Vuyani Mashini (George) grouping. The new leadership will drive next year's parliamentary and provincial elections.
George Herald has a copy of a WhatsApp message sent out to the voting delegates informing them who they must support.
