GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a weather warning for veld fires for parts of the Western Cape and Karoo regions.
The warning issued is valid for Sunday, 17 July from 08:00 until 20:00. Temperature conditions will range from hot and dry, with strong winds which may result in runaway veld - or bush fires.
Affected areas and municipalities may include Beaufort West, George, Hantam, Hessequa, Kannaland, Karoo, Hoogland, Laingsburg, Oudtshoorn, and Prince Albert. Fire teams, labour and the necessary equipment will be placed on stand-by. Measures and precautions should be taken into account at the first sign of smoke, every measure should be taken to bring the fire under control in the shortest possible time.
