Rape-accused East London teacher released on bail

NATIONAL NEWS - The former Clarendon Primary School teacher who was arrested on a rape charge and two sexual assault charges laid by three different plaintiffs last Wednesday is out on R5000 bail.

One of the three plaintiffs is a minor who has laid a sexual assault charge.

The accused was granted bail at the East London Magistrate’s Court at a formal bail application hearing on Tuesday morning after the state did not oppose bail.

The 64-year-old will appear again on July 6.
