NATIONAL NEWS - Police Minister Fikile Mbalula says that he believes the days of airport crimes such as follow-home robberies are drawing to a close.
His comments come after six suspects were arrested at the weekend following a tip-off from a security vehicle following a car from the airport.
Mbalula says that these arrests show that the police are determined to end crime in and around the airport.
The suspects are due to appear in court on Monday.
Spokesperson Vuyo Mhaga said: “We are happy but we need a watertight OR Tambo for the economy and tourism of the country.”
Meanwhile, the Iraqi ambassador to South Africa says they are now waiting to get more details from the police to determine why an Iraqi delegation is the latest group to be targeted by the so-called OR Tambo airport robbers.
