GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - If you didn't pass your 2021 National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams, or are unhappy with your results, you may apply to rewrite certain examinations, or apply to have your paper re-marked or rechecked.
Re-marking and rechecking of exam papers
A re-mark means that your examination will be marked for a second time, while a recheck is a further check to ensure that all questions are duly marked and that all marks are correctly calculated. The closing date for applications all of the above is Friday 3 February.
Candidates can apply for the re-mark of their NSC 2022 scripts online at https://www.eservices.gov.za.
Fees
Re-marking of scripts is R110 per subject, rechecking R27 per subject and reviewing of scripts is R212 per subject and will not be refunded. Candidates from no-fee schools are exempted from the payment of fees for re-marking or rechecking.
The department will notify applicants by letter about the results of the re-marking or rechecking of scripts from Monday 13 March. Where applicable, an amended Statement of Results will be issued.
Registration for rewriting
The closing date to register to write the NSC May/June 2023 examination, is Wednesday 8 February.
You can only apply through hard copy. Candidates can either register to write the NSC June 2023 or the NSC November 2023 examination.
The application forms were sent to the candidates' school, as well as the district offices.
Alternatively, candidates can download the application from the Western Cape Education Department's website.
The documents required are the completed application form, signed Popi Act form, certified copy of ID and latest Statement of Results.
Candidates will receive an SMS and their admission letter can be downloaded from the WCED website. Once all applications are captured and verified, applicants will receive an SMS to check their registration confirmation online.
They must check whether all their details are correct. Errors must be reported via e-mail to Exam.Registrations@westerncape.gov.za before a certain date. Candidates will then receive their final confirmation of admission in April.
