KNYSNA NEWS - Western Cape Premier Helen Zille is currently addressing attendees of the Southern Cape Landowners Initiative (SCLI) seminar at the Brenton-on-Sea community hall.
Zille is delivering the keynote address at the SCLI's Garden Route Environmental Seminar which will continue till tomorrow, 24 November.
Among other issues she is discussing the seven workstreams of the Garden Route Rebuild Initiative (GRRI), focussing specifically on environmental issues.
"I am impressed with the progress the Garden Route has made so far with the little I have seen and what I have read," she said.
She will be inspecting the erosion mitigation and hydro-seeding programmes at Brenton-on-Lake later this morning.
Zille also touched on the drought the Western Cape province is currently experiencing.
Zille is delivering the keynote address at the SCLI's Garden Route Environmental Seminar which will continue till tomorrow, 24 November.
"Even though we have had some good rains it does not mean the drought is over. We will need at least three seasons of rain to get back to normal," she said.
Zille mentioned there are currently measures in place to assist Knysna, like the Knysna Hospital drilling its own borehole and the completion of work on desalination plants.
