NATIONAL NEWS - The driver of a light motor vehicle sustained serious injuries after his car collided with a goods train in Mapleton, Boksburg, in Ekurhuleni, emergency services said.
The Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) said the incident happened on Monday afternoon on Northern Road at the railway level crossing just outside Vosloorus.
The DEMS rescue team from Vosloorus fire station responded to the incident and rescued the driver from the wreckage before he was transported by private ambulance to Clinix private hospital.
“The road had to be closed for the duration of the incident until all on-scene investigations were conducted by the relevant authorities,” DEMS said.
