Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said police attached to the Maitland Flying Squad swooped on a house in Glennifer Street, Brooklyn, after receiving a tip-off on Tuesday.
The owner of the house allowed police to search the premises, but when they came to a locked room, he claimed he didn’t have a key for it.
“The police could smell the strong smell of marijuana, commonly known as dagga. The police forced open the door and discovered boxes full of compressed dagga weighing 35,893 kilograms and with a street value of about R1,1 million”, Rwexana said.
