NATIONAL NEWS - While addressing the media today, 24 March, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize stated that there are now 554 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in South Africa.
No deaths have been reported and there were conversions of people who turned negative after testing positive for the virus.
Garden Route District Municipality spokesperson, Herman Pieters today confirmed that there are 11 cases in the Garden Route District. He did not specify in which towns cases have been confirmed. (The Garden Route District includes George, Mossel Bay, Knysna, Bitou (Plett), Oudtshoorn, Hessequa and Kannaland).
Gauteng still has the highest number of confirmed cases, at 302 and Minister Zweli Mkize stated that large number of them are from the City of Johannesburg, a few in the City of Ekhuruleni and others in the City of Tshwane.
Western Cape now has 130 confirmed cases and KZN has 80 confirmed cases.
Mkhize further stated that the aim now is to flatten the curve of the virus. The department of Health is focused ob the containment of the virus among those who tested positive and those who were in contact with them.
