NATIONAL NEWS - African National Congress (ANC) veteran and businessman Tokyo Sexwale says that the ruling party must take collective responsibility for contributing to the country’s credit downgrade, and not put the blame solely on President Jacob Zuma.
In November, credit rating agency S&P Global downgraded the country to junk status, while Moody’s placed South Africa on review for a further downgrade.
Fitch was first to downgrade the country to junk status in April.
Sexwale says the ANC has to do some soul-searching at the conference.
