Sasol agrees to supply Eskom with excess electricity

NATIONAL NEWS - The Business Day report cites Sasol spokesman Alex Anderson saying that the agreement came into effect at the beginning of this month.

Sasol will supply the power from its Secunda and Sasolburg complexes, where it produces a total of 1,100MW of electricity from gas imported from Mozambique.

Eskom will take up to 440MW of Sasol’s output as and when it needs the power. This is equivalent to half the 800MW Eskom will add onto the grid when the first unit of Medupi is fully operational next month.
