NATIONAL NEWS - Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini and the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) are back in the spotlight with reports on Friday morning that Sassa’s new acting CEO Pearl Bhengu is in business with Dlamini’s daughter.
The Mail & Guardian is reporting that 21-year-old Skhumbuzo Mazibuko and Bhengu are both listed as directors of a company registered in 2015.
Bhengu’s appointment comes after Thokozani Magwaza’s contract with the social security agency was terminated this week.
Dlamini’s spokesperson Lumka Oliphant told the Mail & Guardian the company was started by women with the purpose of buying shares with a view to enter the maritime industry.
The newspaper is reporting that the company is active, despite Lumka’s denial that it never got off the ground.
