NATIONAL NEWS - Oscar Pistorius will not be released from the Kgosi Mampuru Prison II tomorrow.
This has been confirmed by the Department of Correctional Services.
Spokesperson for the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Logan Maistry told Rekord that Pistorius will not be out on Friday.
Maistry however did not elaborate on the reason why.
Correctional Services Minister Michael Masutha was seeking legal opinion on Tuesday on the planned release of Pistorius.
This after the Progressive Women’s Movement of South Africa (PWMSA) petitioned the government to block Pistorius’s release early this week.
They wrote a letter to the minister saying that a 10-month length of his jail time is an insult to women. Steenkamp’s parents, Barry and June have also objected Pistorius’ release.
