NATIONAL NEWS - A massive hail storm swept through some part of Gauteng on Monday afternoon, causing major damages.
In Lyttelton, a tree fell on Botha Avenue and caused major delays for motorists.
Following the storm, residents, especially from the West Rand took to social media to assess the hail damage.
One resident said that some of the hailstones were the size of a golf ball or a fist: “We had a very bad hail storm this side. The roads are flooded, some of the malls’ roofs have collapsed.”
Cradlestone mall in the West Rand was badly damaged.
According to Netcare 911, one person has been killed and two other were hospitalised in Krugersdorp when a reported tornado struck Hillside.
South African Weather Service said on Monday evening that no further storms were predicted for next few days in Gauteng.
A tree fell on Botha Avenue.
