It's in a bid to save water after the municipality last week implemented level 3B restrictions.
With the exception of the Sea Point and Mnandi pools, as well as four other indoor swimming facilities, all other pools will only be open to the public between 2pm and 5pm on Fridays and from 10am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays. This will come into effect from next Monday.
The city's JP Smith says this will help save water.
“Because the swimming pools need to be back washed every day, it’s estimated that more than 1,680 kilolitres of water will be saved per day.”
