Zolani Sibeko was arrested in Port Elizabeth a few weeks ago, more than 15 months after the teacher was found murdered near Uitenhage.
Christopher Panayiotou is charged with hiring men to kill his wife in April last year.
Zolani Sibeko is expected to make another brief court appearance today.
He has been charged with kidnapping and conspiracy to commit murder.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has indicated that Sibeko is likely to stand trial with Panayiotou and his two co-accused, Sizwezakhe Vumazonke and Sinethemba Nenembe.
