To celebrate this success, Toyota has given the Etios a facelift.
A lot of attention was given to endow the Etios with a higher-quality feel, inside and out.
Exterior
The facelifted version features a new grille design, which remains black on the Xi, but gets a chrome finish on the Xs model. Standard across the range now are body colour door handles and mirrors, the latter of which have also been redesigned. This not only looks better, but also aids in aerodynamic performance. Aero-stabilising fins on the mirror bases in particular contribute to ensuring handling stability and wind-noise reduction.
The rear end also features some updates, with a new tail-lamp design for both the hatch and sedan.
Interior
Interior-wise, the Xs get a height-adjustable driver’s seat, which also gets additional cushioning, more under-thigh support and adjustable headrests. The all-in-one seats in the Xi models remain as is. The rear seats have also been redesigned to create a new-found plushness.
Another new feature on the Xs model is an auto-up electric-window function on the driver’s door.
An all-new 2-DIN Toyota audio system is standard on Xs models and the Xi range now comes pre-wired for door speakers, as well as instrument-panel speakers. An antenna pole is standard across the range.
The Xs’ ventilation controls have been replaced by solid knobs with chrome finishing.
Engine
The 1.5-litre petrol engine powering the Etios will remain as is. Outputs are 66kW and 132Nm of torque, with a 0-100km/h sprint of under 11 seconds. Fuel consumption for the sedan is claimed to be 5.9 litres/100km and 6 litres/100km for the hatch.
NVH levels have been reduced by replacing the rubber engine mounts with more refined, sound-absorbing hydraulic mounts, modifying the silencer and fine-tuning the damper settings.
