First shown in September last year, the revisions applied to the local Vitara mirrors that of the version sold in Europe, namely a new front bumper and grille, LED combination taillights and newly designed alloy wheels. Inside, the Vitara receives a new 4.2-inch TFT instrument cluster display as well as a new touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth and a reverse camera in place of the previous LCD unit.

On the specification front, the Vitara is once again offered in three trim levels with the GL coming equipped with 16-inch steel wheels, front and rear skidplates, electric mirrors, daytime running LEDs, a urethane steering wheel with audio controls, four-speaker sound system with Bluetooth and USB, front electric windows, height adjustable front seats, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, seven airbags and ESP.

Moving one up, the GL+ rides on 16-inch alloy wheels an further adds body coloured mirrors and door handles, front fog lights, a colour coded grille, rear privacy glass, the aforementioned instrument cluster display and infotainment system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, cruise control with speed limiter, rear electric windows, climate control, silver stitching on the seats, grey exterior gladding and silver interior inserts.

At the sharp end, the GLX comes with a panoramic sunroof, chrome grille, projector-type auto-levelling LED headlights, folding electric mirrors, rain sense wipers, suede seat inserts, front and rear parking sensors and LED daytime running lights.

As mentioned, Suzuki is due to add the 103kW/220Nm 1.4-litre Boosterjet engine to the range, but for now, the Vitara remains naturally breathing with the carryover 1.6-litre M16A motor producing 86kW/151Nm. As before, a five-speed manual gearbox is standard on all models with a six-speed automatic optional on GL+ and GLX. Drive is routed to the front wheels with Suzuki’s AllGrip four-wheel drive system with four modes; Auto, Sport, Mud/Snow and Lock standard on the GLX.

Standard on all models is a four year/60 000km service plan.
