Known as the Starex, i800 or iMax/iLoad in other markets, the three model H-1 range comes with a completely redesigned front facia in the form of projector type headlights, restyled bumper and grille, while the rear has been kept untouched. Inside, Hyundai has revised the centre console to accommodate a new touchscreen infotainment system that features Bluetooth, USB and for an additional R2 522, satellite navigation.
In terms of standard equipment, the newly designated Executive comes with auto light control, tilt and telescopically adjustable steering wheel, 16-inch alloy wheels, black-and-chrome grille and rear Park Assist, while the Elite adds 17-inch alloys, reverse camera, folding electric mirrors, Electronic Stability Programme, front side airbags and a chrome grille.
Mechanically, Hyundai has kept the H-1 as is, with the Executive retaining its 2.4-litre petrol engine that makes 126kW/224Nm, while the Elite and panel van comes with a 2.5-litre CRDI turbodiesel that produces 125kW/441Nm. A five-speed manual gearbox is the sole option on the former, with the latter pair utilising a five-speed automatic. Combined fuel consumption is a claimed 10.2-litres/100km for the petrol and 9.8-litres/100km for the diesel, with payload for the panel van being rated at 1 100kg.
Standard on all models are a five year/150 000km warranty and five year/90 000km service plan.
