Bearing similarities with the Alaskan pick-up when viewed from the front and a sloping rear-end hinting at the BMW X4, the Arkana is claimed to offer “an astonishing balance between the elegance of a sedan and the sturdiness of an SUV”, with the Laurens Van den Acker styled concept riding on 19-inch alloy wheels and boasting a panoramic glass roof.
Aimed at the Russian market but due to be rolled produced and sold in Asia at a later stage, the Arkana will not be offered in Europe with Renault also declining to reveal any technical or specification details.
Based on previous reports, the Arkana will share its underpinnings with the Dacia/Renault Duster derived Kaptur, which is motivated by 1.6 or 2.0-litre normally aspirated petrol, or a 1.5-litre dCi in India with a choice of four gearbox options; a five-or-six-speed manual, a four-speed automatic or a CVT.
As mentioned, production will commence in Russia next year but for the time being, the Arkana is not expected to arrive in South Africa in due the coming weeks.
