The dynamic Audi RS6 Avant is the top dog in the A6 line-up and features a 4.0 Bi-turbo TFSI V8 engine, which produces 412kW of power and 700Nm of torque. This means that the RS6, which is a high-performance sports car for everyday driving, will reach 100km/h in around 3.9 seconds and will top out at a speed of 305km/h. The standard quattro drivetrain on the RS6 uses a centre differential with a higher locking rate. Audi offers the taut RS sport suspension with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) as an option. The large brake discs feature a weight-saving wave design, and the wheels measure 20 inches in diameter. Twenty-one-inch wheels are available as an option.
Despite the power and sheer muscular look of the car, why do we here at Autodealer, like the Avant so much?
If the power figures don’t rock your boat and you prefer practicality and comfort over road-ripping performance, then there are more moderate station wagons out there. When it comes to the station wagon we just feel that you really get the best of both worlds.
You get a car that is practical and spacious and yet, it offers the same level of comfort and usability with regards to the driving characteristics of the sedan on which it is based. Why do so many road users insist on getting a big, bulky SUV to lug around town? Sure, they’re great for venturing off into the great outdoors but how many of you can honestly say that you fully utilize the off-road capabilities of your 4x4 or SUV?
If you have no need for a big 4x4 then why not consider a station wagon when you decide to trade up, or if you’re just in the market for a new, practical family car? Many manufacturers are cutting their station wagon orders due to a lack of interest from the public. We wish it wasn’t so; we really hope to see a return of the station wagon in the years to come. They are fantastic cars and with something like the Audi RS6 on its way, they are cars to get excited about.
