GEORGE NEWS - A group of Grade 8 and Grade 9 York High learners excelled in the South African National Geography Olympiad, under the guidance of teacher Charmaine Celliers, placing the school in a firm second place in the category for state schools.
A total of 1 597 learners from 80 schools countrywide took part.
The top performers are Abigail Kok (1st place overall; top Grade 9 learner; top female learner and top Western Cape learner); and Nika Schoeman (8th place overall).
Four learners received a place in the top 10%, namely Jayden L'empriere, Dean de Witt, Tao Otto and Taelin Reuter.
