GEORGE NEWS - George police have opened a culpable homicide docket following the death of a 50-year-old woman in Madiba Drive at about 14:00 yesterday, Wednesday 17 November.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies says witness reports indicate that the vehicle left the road before hitting a tree.
"The victim sustained serious injuries and was declared dead by paramedics on the scene. Four other occupants in the vehicle, of whom one is a five-year-old child, sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital," he said.
The current condition of the injured have not been confirmed.
Investigation into the matter continues.
