GEORGE NEWS - Police arrested a 31-year-old man from the Wilderness area on 9 May following allegations of sexual assault of a teenager.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, the George Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offences unit (FCS) is investigating a case of rape, sexual grooming and sexual assault.
"It is alleged that the man violated a 14-year-old girl between August 2022 and January 2023," he said.
The accused, who is involved in a local church, appeared in the George Magistrate's Court on 18 May where the case was postponed until yesterday, Wednesday 24 May, for his bail application.
By the time of going to print no further details surrounding his court appearance could be confirmed.
