Update
GEORGE NEWS - Following an earlier report of an armed robbery at a jewellery store in the Garden Route Mall, Southern Cape police spokesperson Chris Spies confirmed the incident.
According to Spies, five suspects, of whom at least one was armed, entered the store at approximately 10:00 this morning, 27 October
"They threatened staff members and fled with an undisclosed amount of jewellery," he said.
Police are still fine-combing the scene for clues.
The suspects fled in a Nissan Livina.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the vehicle was heading in the direction of Thembalethu, while others suggest it was travelling towards Knysna.
This could not yet be confirmed.
