GEORGE NEWS - A man and a woman were allegedly murdered in two separate incidents in the Conville policing area on Christmas day.
"In the first incident, at about 01:40, Conville police members were dispatched to a house at Kallossie Street, Proteapark. On arrival they found the body of the victim, Gerswin Kiewiets (45), with a stab wound to the chest in a room. He was later declared dead by paramedics," said police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies.
According to Spies, a 32-year-old woman was arrested on the scene.
"It is alleged that the couple had an argument when the victim was stabbed with a knife."
About an hour later, at about 02:30, police attended to a stabbing scene at Canary Street in Rosemoor where they found the body of a woman, Elizabeth Viljoen (46) in a dwelling at the back of the main house.
"Preliminary investigation indicates that the couple had an argument when the man stabbed the girlfriend with a knife. She sustained a stab wound to her chest and succumbed. Medical personnel later declared the victim dead on scene," said Spies.
A 54-year-old man, the boyfriend of the deceased, was arrested in connection with the killing.
The two suspects are expected to appear in the George Magistrate's court today, Tuesday 28 December, each on a charge of murder.
"Both suspects remain in custody until their respective court appearances today. An autopsy to determine the cause of death in both instances will be conducted this week and investigation continues."
