GEORGE NEWS - Tuiniqua Care Centre has warned members of the public about a job scam in which the organisation's name is being used to lure people into paying money for caregiver positions.

The warning follows several people arriving at Tuiniqua last week believing they had been appointed as caregivers. 

According to Tuiniqua's marketing official, Lizelle Bergner, some had already paid money and arrived at the care centre to collect the uniforms they believed they had to receive before starting work.

"For many, this is the last money they have," Bergner said.

Apparently, posts creating the impression that people have been offered jobs at Tuiniqua have been circulating on Facebook.

Bergner said Tuiniqua will never ask applicants to pay money in order to obtain a job. "This includes requests for payment for training, equipment or placement fees."

She said members of the public should be cautious of job offers promising unrealistic salaries or easy money, unsolicited approaches via WhatsApp, Telegram or social media and requests for payment or personal information before a job has been verified. 

"Jobseekers should also be wary of suspicious email addresses, pressure to act immediately or documents that appear official but contain inconsistencies.

“Anyone interested in a position should verify vacancies through Tuiniqua's official channels."

Anyone who is unsure about the legitimacy of an offer should contact Tuiniqua directly on 044 874 5760 and not hand over money or personal information.
