GEORGE NEWS - An official of George traffic department is facing a disciplinary hearing after it came to light that she completed a learner's licence test for a family member.
According to a well-informed source, a senior official of the department noticed a completed paper on the desk of Olga Marikeni, the officer concerned, before the test was administered.
The name on the test belonged to a family member of Marikeni.
Marikeni was allegedly confronted about the paper. On the senior official's insistence, the family member wrote the test, and failed.
Marikeni was recently suspended and is awaiting a disciplinary hearing.
George Herald reached out to Marikeni for comment and clarity, but she declined comment on her lawyer's instruction.
Municipal spokesperson Chantèl Edwards said George Municipality does not provide comment on employee related matters.
"Protocols are in place to avoid such incidents," said Edwards.
