GEORGE NEWS - Traffic was delayed in Knysna Road early on Tuesday morning, 27 August, following an accident between a Toyota Quantum Taxi and a Nissan NP200 bakkie at the traffic lights between Tavcor and the Garden Route Mall.
Miraculously, despite the major impact, three men sustained only moderate injuries and no fatalities were reported.
Two of the patients were transported to Mediclinic George by ER24 paramedics, while the third was taken to George Hospital. The cause of the accident could not be confirmed yet.
According to unconfirmed information, the taxi was travelling from the mall in the direction of Kraaibosch and the NP200 bakkie was coming from the direction of Wilderness towards George when the accident happened.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies confirmed the accident and said police have opened a reckless and negligent driving docket.
"Information surrounding the incident is still sketchy, however, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collision.
"Reports available indicate that at least three occupants sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for medical care," said Spies.
The NP200 was involved in the accident. Two patients from the bakkie were taken to hospital.
