Under the auspices of Esme Orr, 96 spirited women played the day away for the hospice which was founded in 2006. It delivers home-based hospice care to patients living with incurable cancer, irrespective of their race, creed, colour or financial status.
They are registered as a non profit public benefit organisation and provide hospice care in the patient's home with family members or friends serving as the main hands-on caregivers. The patient and their loved ones are supported by a trained hospice nurse. A doctor is also available for consultation when ne-cessary. When more constant help is needed, trained care workers are provided.
The main sponsors of the day were Dischem, GVI Oncology and Alexander Forbes. Seven George restaurants also came to the party by sponsoring and preparing delicious lunches which were served to the participants on completion of their game. Kafé Serefe, Halfway House, House of Flavours, Leila's Arms, Rose on York, Top Two and Town House displayed their unique culinary skills.
The organisers were also grateful for generous contributions from suppliers of golf equipment and the wide range of prizes offered. No player walked away empty-handed.
