GEORGE NEWS - George Herald proudly welcomes the appointment of Kristy Kolberg as news editor of the publication.

Kristy (40), who has been keeping readers abreast of crime and court news in George, will continue as crime reporter, while working closely with George Herald editor Lizette da Silva to streamline our presentation of news to the George community.

Nearly a decade ago, Kristy joined the Group Editors online section, where she learned the ropes in the digital arena. After a couple of years working the websites and facebook platforms, Kristy found and pursued her primary interest, crime reporting, in which she excels. 

Several national and local awards over the years are testimony to her skills as a writer, reporter, headline writer and photographer.

Kristy is a cool-headed, hard-working journalist who will work with the editor to overcome the various challenges that news publications and online platforms face in our brave new world. It takes a special person to face a flood of daily news reports, events, fakes and fads. We are proud of you Kristy, you go girl!
