GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Some residents speculated on social media about the "new dam wall" of the Garden Route Dam "leaking" after a photo was published that showed water flowing through "cracks".
But, according to George Municipality's Civil Engineering Department, the photo is of the spillway wall (not the dam wall) and the spillway is not "leaking".
It is operating as designed and is structurally sound.
What is visible is the effect of water flowing over the spillway and being deflected by the concrete surface finishes, including the joints of the concrete pours.
